DISCO Co., Ltd. surveys the career consciousness of overseas students, such as vocational views, job hunting methods, and impressions of study abroad experience, for regular international students studying at overseas universities and exchange / dispatched international students.We published the analysis results compared with the survey data of domestic students.

 According to the survey, 11.5% of the respondents answered "native level" and 56.3% answered "business level" regarding their current English proficiency, and nearly 7% of the students were able to use English in business (total). 67.8%).On the other hand, looking at the English proficiency of students studying at universities and graduate schools in Japan, less than 1% (9.2%) were at the business level or above.

 The top reason for wanting to get a job is "I want to be financially independent" at 73.0%.This was followed by 68.8% "to improve one's skills and develop a career".On the other hand, for domestic students, "I want to secure a stable income" was the highest, at 83.4%. "For improving my skills and career development" was 43.7%.There was a difference of 25.1 points from international students.

 When choosing a company as a place of employment, the top two points for both international students and domestic students are "salary / treatment" and "future potential". International students are more interested in items related to the work environment and content, such as "working in a country other than Japan" and "acquiring high skills".On the other hand, domestic students are paying more attention to items related to company stability and systems, such as "good business performance and financial condition" and "many holidays and vacations".Overall, domestic students are looking at the company axis, and while the aspect of "employment" is strong, international students are characterized by looking at the company on the job axis such as acquiring skills.

 Regarding study abroad expenses, the average total cost of regular international students is 1,132.2 million yen.It was more than five times as much as the exchange / dispatched international students (215.8 million yen) who had a short study abroad period.In addition, regardless of the type of study abroad, most of the expenses depend on the family, and the result is that the family bears more than 5% of regular international students and nearly 8% of exchange students.

 The subjects of the survey are Japanese students who are registered on the bilingual employment / change job site CFN (www.careerforum.net) and have graduated from May 2017 or later.The number of responses was 5.
