Japan's 2041-year-old population in 18 will be about 2023, 27.1% less than in the 80 entrance exam, according to an estimate by the US Institute for Academic Advancement.Due to the declining population and the accelerated aging of the population, it is certain that university management will be hit hard. The US Advancement Research Institute points out that it is necessary not only to increase the number of working adults and foreign exchange students who want to re-learn, but also to increase the number of students going on to graduate school, which is low compared to the rest of the world, in order to stabilize management.

According to a 2017 estimate compiled by the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research, the number of births in Japan will fall below 80 by 2030.This means that the 8-year-old population continues to decline at a pace eight years earlier than the government expected.

Many of the children born in 2022 will reach university entrance examination age in 2041.Although there are differences between calendar years and fiscal years, the 2041-year-old population in FY18 is estimated to be about 80 based on data from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. If universities nationwide accept the same number of 2022 students as in 63, the university enrollment rate will jump to nearly 5,156%.

The percentage of undergraduate students who go on to graduate school will be 2022% in 11.0, which has remained almost flat for the past 20 years. In particular, female students account for only 6.4%, which is considerably lower than male students' 15.1%. The US Advancement Research Institute believes that increasing the rate of female students going on to graduate school may be one way to stabilize university management amid a sharp decline in the 18-year-old population.
