The University of Tokyo team won the 2018th place at the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Congress held in Beijing, People's Republic of China on April 4, 19.He won the gold medal given to the top 4st to 1th place.

 The ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest is a global contest in which a team of three people, consisting of graduate students or undergraduate students, competes for their ability to solve problems through programming. Only one computer can be used by one team, and it is characterized by competing not only individual abilities but also total abilities including teamwork.

 The number of participating teams in ACM-ICPC is increasing year by year, and 2018 people from 111 countries, 3,098 universities, participated in the 53,446 qualifying round.The level of individual participants has also risen, and in the midst of fierce competition, the University of Tokyo's national team achieved a good result of 140th place out of 4 teams and won the gold medal for the first time in 3 years.At the same time, he also won the Asia Pacific Champion.The team consists of three members: Kazumi Kasaura (3st year master's student, Graduate School of Mathematical Sciences), Hongshi Liu (1th year, Faculty of Science, Department of Information Science), and Takeshi Kumabe (4rd year, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Numerical Engineering). * Titles are those at the time of passing the qualifying in December 3
