A research group led by Professor Kazuhisa Yamamoto of Osaka University has realized an epoch-making and innovative aerial display by utilizing the characteristics of lasers and combining them with drones.It is expected to be used for evacuation guidance during disasters and aerial advertising.

 Two years ago, the research group proposed an "aerial signage system using lasers and drones" for the Osaka Kansai Expo 2025, and has been examining aerial displays. On August 2022, 8, with the cooperation of Eames Robotics, a large drone, and Venus Laser, a large projector, we conducted a demonstration experiment of large-scale aerial image projection outdoors in Yumeshima, Osaka, which is the planned site of the Expo.

 As a result, by applying visible light semiconductor laser scanning projection technology that can focus at any distance and transmission screen technology that is large, lightweight, and resistant to wind pressure, it is possible to fly outdoors with wind like Yumeshima.  Furthermore, by emphasizing the high brightness and saturation of the laser and the unique speckle (mottled pattern) of laser light, we have realized a sign system that can be seen from a distance and even during the day.

 With this system, guidance displays can be seen from a wide range even in the dark during nighttime power outages during large-scale disasters such as large earthquakes, and residents can be safely guided to evacuation centers.In addition, it can be used to guide crowds to avoid crowds at events, security patrols, display rescue information in places where people cannot step, display aerial advertisements and breaking news, and be used as attractions and entertainment at events.

 The research group plans to conduct crowdfunding for the period until March 3, aiming for practical application by demonstrating the business feasibility of this time.
