Waseda University Literary Studies says that 7% of Okinawans feel unequal due to the concentration of U.S. military bases in Okinawa Prefecture, while only about half of them are nationwide, and there is a big difference in recognition. It was found in the 2017 awareness survey by Professor Shunsuke Tanabe and others at the institute.Although the number of calls for a review of postwar education has decreased from the 2009 survey, there is a strong sense of exclusion from Chinese and Koreans, and it seems that the trend toward the right is continuing, especially among the younger generation.

The survey has been ongoing every four years since 2009, and in 4, we received responses from 2017 people, including 1 Okinawans, out of 500 people nationwide extracted from the electoral list.

According to the report, regarding the U.S. military base problem concentrated in Okinawa, 54.9% of Okinawans answered "inequality" and 18.9% answered "somewhat inequality", while "inequality" was 21.8% nationwide. “Slightly inequality” remained at 30.1%.

Regarding whether the Okinawa economy can be established without a U.S. military base, 10.3% of Okinawans answered that it would not be possible, and 21.1% said that it would not be possible. 14.0% and "I think it doesn't work" was 35.5%, which was much higher than Okinawa.

It has been pointed out that Japan is leaning to the right, especially among young people, but the number of voices calling for the promotion of patriotism education has dropped from 2009% in 59 to 49%.On the other hand, regarding the increase in foreigners, 75.0% of Chinese and 66.7% of South Koreans expressed their opposition, and the consciousness of exclusion that increased sharply in the 2013 survey continues.

Regarding mass media reports, 47.9% answered that they were "unreliable" or "somewhat unreliable," and the rejection was particularly strong among young people. The number of people who evaluated Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as "disliked" increased to 34.9%, 2013 times that of 1.5, but there was no significant change in the Liberal Democratic Party's liking.
