Kansai University will become a partner school of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to support refugees who do not have Japanese nationality, and will start recommended admissions for refugees from 2019 students.This is the second school in Kansai after Kwansei Gakuin University, and it aims to contribute to the international community by increasing the number of acceptance slots in the Kansai region.

 According to Kansai University, the recommendation entrance examination will be open to all faculties and will accept one person.The selection will be conducted by document screening and interview.The application qualifications are for refugees living in Japan such as Convention Refugees, Indochina Refugees, and Resettlement Refugees, and refugees who do not have Japanese nationality, and refugees II, who need to be recommended by the UNHCR Office in Japan.

 UNHCR screens documents around August and decides who recommends it.After that, Kansai University decides successful applicants through interviews.Enrolled students are exempt from admission fees and four-year tuition fees, and receive a monthly scholarship of 8 yen.

 A similar system was introduced by Kansai Gakuin University in 2007, and has been started by Aoyama Gakuin University, Meiji University, Tsuda College, Soka University, Sophia University, Meiji Gakuin University, and Sacred Heart Women's University.Kansai University is the 9th school in Japan.So far, 48 students from Vietnam, Syria, etc. have enrolled using this system.

 Kansai University has decided to become a partner school from the standpoint of promoting diversity by cooperating with the international community and accepting students with diverse backgrounds, considering that the acceptance in the Kansai area is one Kansai Gakuin University.
