In response to the difficult issue of integrating Shizuoka University and Hamamatsu University of Medicine into one corporation, the Kisei Alliance was launched with the aim of realizing an early reorganization at the initiative of Hamamatsu City.
According to Hamamatsu City, the Reorganization Promotion Reform Association held an inaugural ceremony at Act City Hamamatsu in Naka Ward, Hamamatsu City.The ceremony was attended not only by people from the western part of the prefecture, such as Hamamatsu City, but also from local governments such as Gotemba City and Fujinomiya City in the eastern part of the prefecture, as well as from the business world, such as the Atami Chamber of Commerce and Industry. sued.
In 2019, Shizuoka University and Hamamatsu University School of Medicine agreed to merge into one corporation and two universities.After integrating the two corporations, the plan is to establish two universities: a new university that integrates Shizuoka University Hamamatsu Campus and Hamamatsu Medical School, and Shizuoka University Shizuoka Campus.
The city of Hamamatsu showed its willingness to actively support the integration, such as by providing municipal facilities free of charge to the reorganization preparation office. With the launch, reorganization talks were suspended, and the initial goal of starting in 2022 was postponed.
