The Investment Research and Education Unit of the Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University and the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) have agreed to proceed with joint research for the development of a new stock index.
The Investment Research and Education Unit established within the Business Management Research Department is a lecture donated by the Faculty of Economics, Norinchukin Value Investments "Corporate Value Creation and Evaluation", and Japan Investment Advisers Association / Investment Trust Association "Asset Management Practice and Law". It is operated in cooperation with ".The purpose is to study what the original investment is and how the investment leads to the effective utilization of funds, which are social resources, and to convey the results not only to Kyoto University students but also to society as a whole. ..
This joint research agreement is with the unit, which continues empirical research on securities investment from the perspective of theory and practice, and the Tokyo Stock Exchange, which calculates the stock index "TSE Stock Index (TOPIX)" that represents Japan. However, they agreed to work on the development of a new index with the common understanding that "to develop the frontier of a new stock index related to Japanese stocks".
Professor Emeritus Hidetaka Kawakita, who presides over the Investment Research and Education Unit, commented, "Through joint research, we aim to develop a new benchmark that is useful for investors who manage Japanese stocks over the long term."In the future, both sides will work on joint research with the goal of determining the outline of the new index by the end of 2018, with reference to the opinions of market participants.
