Communication mark

　We have also created a new communication mark and catch phrase to let many people know about this initiative. As the catch phrase of "Creating the beginning" and "RESEARCH! = Research ability" shows, based on the "research ability" that the university advocates as an educational policy, "professional ability", "human ability" and "young ability" are cultivated. The idea is to sow and nurture future seeds in academia, industry, and even the region.

　The "Research Ability Site" is lined with columns about research undertaken by Shizuoka Institute of Science and Technology.Of course, it is a specialized content, but when I read it, what kind of research the researchers of the university are working on and how it is useful in our society, is it useful?It is carefully written so that you can feel close to your research in the light of your own life and know the thoughts of researchers who are involved in the research.

　The only private science and engineering university in Shizuoka prefecture.Although its scale is not large, it has tackled various themes as a science and engineering university, and has 69 laboratories. (2018)

Advanced Equipment Analysis Center Appearance

　As a university open to the community, it also has some of the prefecture's leading research and educational facilities such as the "Advanced Instrument Analysis Center" and "Yaramaika Innovation Plaza", and has high potential to contribute to the revitalization of the local community.For example, the "Advanced Instrumental Analysis Center" has 27 types of expensive analytical equipment such as powder X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and electron probe microanalyzer (EPMA), and is a joint facility used by researchers and students on campus. It also plays an aspect of a regional analysis center that is open to outsiders.

　So far, 88 local companies and educational institutions have registered for use, and in fact, there have been more than 200 uses per year.Some local companies find it difficult to own expensive equipment on their own.This low-cost service reflects the university's desire to contribute to the research capabilities of local companies as a "regional analysis center."In addition, the Advanced Instruments Analysis Center is enhancing the support provided by technical staff and giving consideration to creating an environment where local companies can actively use advanced analytical instruments.As a result of these efforts, joint research with local companies is increasing.

　In this way, Shizuoka Institute of Science and Technology is actively providing technical support and technological development to solve the problems faced by the local community as a social role that science and engineering universities should play.This research power site is one of them.

　With the launch of this site, many people will be informed of the efforts of Shizuoka Institute of Science and Technology through various information dissemination such as research results, progress of industry-academia-government collaboration, and introduction of future technological trends. We would like to create opportunities for joint research and regional collaboration, return the results of that research to the local community, and create a new future together.

　Researchers from different fields have set up a group within the university, and efforts for new research to think about the future have begun.The research cultivated at Shizuoka Institute of Science and Technology has spread not only vertically but also horizontally, and is advancing toward companies and society.
