Rikkyo University Graduate School of Sociology, Fuller Co., Ltd., and Mitsubishi UFJ Research & Consulting have jointly created a joint report on understanding the actual situation of smartphone users using actual usage data of smartphones.

In recent years, the use of the Internet via smartphones has rapidly become widespread, and in Japan, the Internet usage rate via mobiles in the teens and 10s is higher than that via personal computers. Therefore, in January 40, Tadamasa Kimura Laboratory, Graduate School of Sociology, Rikkyo University, Mitsubishi UFJ Research & Consulting Co., Ltd., and Fuller Co., Ltd. took the lead in "Log Data Analysis of Smartphone". Use) Established a study group. We aim to contribute to the usefulness and awareness of mobile life logs by grasping the actual situation of people's use of the Internet and visualizing their lifestyles and lifestyles.

This survey is also part of that research activity.Users were classified according to the usage status of applications installed on their smartphones, and each user image was analyzed and summarized. When we aggregated and analyzed the usage rates of major apps by gender, age group, and time zone, the difference in usage rate due to "gender difference" rather than "age difference" appeared. For both men and women, there are three peaks of utilization rate after 7 am, 12 pm, and 17:3 pm on weekdays. Especially for men, the morning school / working hours after going to school / work, and , The decline in the utilization rate was remarkable during the afternoon school and working hours after the lunch break.

When users were divided into 30 clusters (categories) based on gender, age, installed apps, number of launches, etc., the top four groups (male adolescents around 4 years old, 20%, middle-aged males in their mid-24.3s) were analyzed. The total of 40% of the age group, 17.1% of middle-aged women in their mid-40s, and 17.0% of female adolescents in their late teens accounted for 10% of the total users analyzed. The usage status was different for each, and the male adolescents around the age of 11.4 had a high usage rate of the game application, and the startup log of the application (used frequently) was also high. Middle-aged men in their mid-7s had a high usage rate of news apps, and middle-aged women in their mid-20s had a high usage rate of message apps. Female adolescents in their late teens had a high usage rate of LINE, and there were many startup logs of the app.
