Faculty of Engineering, University of Miyazaki to Allow Women in Entrance Examinations, Support Junior High School Students in Choosing Science

　According to Miyazaki University, 370 of the 14 students in the engineering department are female.A written mathematics test, an interview, and an essay are required, and will be held in November, earlier than the general selection.

　In recent years, there has been a growing tendency in the industrial world to seek women who have acquired science and engineering skills, but female students in the Faculty of Engineering at Miyazaki University will remain at an average of 2022% over the seven years until 7.This is lower than the national average of 11.3%, and increasing and nurturing female students to ensure diversity in human resources has emerged as an issue for undergraduates.

　For this reason, in parallel with the introduction of the quota for women, we will start a project to increase the number of female junior high school students who wish to study science.In addition to introducing the research of the Faculty of Engineering at 8 junior high schools in Miyazaki City, we will communicate the appeal of engineering to female junior high school students by interacting with female employees who work for Kyushu Electric Power, Asahi Kasei, and Densan.
