The school building "Architecture Department Building Entsuri" of the Faculty of Science and Technology of Shizuoka Institute of Science and Technology was selected by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion for the 2018 Good Design Award.It will be introduced at the award-winning exhibition that will be held from 31st in Tokyo Midtown, Minato-ku, Tokyo.
According to Shizuoka Institute of Science and Technology, the architecture department building was completed in March 2017.It is a four-story steel building with a total area of approximately 3 square meters, planned by Professor Keiichi Wakisaka and Professor Makoto Maruta, and designed by Nasca 4st Class Architect Office in Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo and architect Nobuaki Furuya.In addition to the lecture room and training room of the Department of Architecture, there is a lounge with a stairwell that gives a feeling of openness, which makes it stand out.
Since it will be a base for university regional cooperation, the building itself is regarded as the veranda of the area, and a huge three-dimensional eaves space has been created over multiple layers.The exterior of the building has a great impact, and the interior of the building is integrated with the front yard to attract people.
Another feature is that the school building itself has been devised to be a living teaching material for students in the architecture department.A structure that can grasp the flow of force and a structure that is resistant to disasters, which is a base for regional disaster prevention, were exposed, and various floors, walls, ceiling materials, lighting fixtures, and furniture were prepared.
The dendritic pillars that are smoothly connected by using castings at the joints are the symbol of this building.Surrounded by mountains, the campus is rich in nature and is integrated with natural forests.
