Niigata University has been selected for the second University and College of Technology Enhancement Support Project (Support 2), and will increase the number of students in the Graduate School of Science and Technology's Master's Program in Electrical and Information Engineering (2025 students enrolled) by 122 from 15, reorganize the courses, and establish a new Information Society Design Science course. In conjunction with this, the Faculty of Creative Studies will establish a new "DX Co-Creation Course" (20 students enrolled) that will enable students in both the arts and sciences to acquire the expertise necessary to advance to graduate school. In addition, the Faculty of Engineering will establish a female quota (5 students enrolled) for the School Recommendation Type I Selection. The Faculty of Creative Studies and the Faculty of Engineering will also make changes from 2025.

According to Niigata University, the master's program at the Graduate School of Science and Technology consists of two majors and seven courses, but they plan to integrate the Electrical and Information Engineering major/Information Engineering course with the Material Production Systems major/Social Systems Engineering course to establish a new Information Society Design Science course (recruiting 59 students) within the Electrical and Information Engineering major. The Information Society Design Science course incorporates elements of the integration of the humanities and sciences, and aims to cultivate the ability to tackle problems and consider solutions from a variety of perspectives by having a variety of students study in the same course.

In addition, the Faculty of Creative Studies (admission capacity 65 students) will change the existing Creative Studies course to the "Creative Studies Course" (admission capacity 50 students) and establish a new "DX Co-Creation Course" (admission capacity 20 students). This will increase the number of students in the faculty as a whole by five. In the newly established "DX Co-Creation Course," students will learn methodologies for solving problems and creating value from the perspective of data and digital technology, and acquire the expertise necessary to advance to graduate school.

The Faculty of Engineering will be introducing a new female quota (recruiting 5 students) in addition to the specialist quota for the School Recommendation Type I Selection "Intelligent Information Systems Program," and will increase the number of students available. Students cannot apply to both the specialist quota and the female quota at the same time. Students will be selected based on a basic mathematics aptitude test, interview, and document screening. Other courses in the Faculty of Engineering will not have female quotas, and only the specialist quota will be accepted.

reference:Niigata University will increase admissions quotas for the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Creative Studies, and Graduate School of Natural Sciences from the 7 academic year in order to produce highly skilled IT professionals.
