EF Education First, an international educational organization operating in over 110 countries around the world, has launched a new program called the University Student Scholarship Project, which offers Japanese university students a two-week study abroad experience at its own language schools overseas.
According to the Japanese branch of EF Education First, the study abroad period will be two weeks between January and March 2025. Students can choose from directly managed language schools in around 1 cities around the world, including London in the UK, Seoul in South Korea, and Singapore, and take classes to develop foreign languages and communication skills.
Basic expenses such as tuition fees, accommodation, and food will be covered by EF Education First. Students will not only acquire skills that can be used in their future careers, but also develop an international perspective through interactions with international students of various nationalities.
Applicants must attach an essay of about 500 characters in Japanese (the reason for wanting to study abroad and what they want to achieve during and after studying abroad), a self-introduction and self-promotion of about 300 words in English, and a free EF English test (50 minutes) to their application email along with other necessary information. Scholarship recipients must carry out activities designated as EF ambassadors.
EF Education First was founded in Sweden in 1965. It has cultivated global talent in over 110 countries, and decided to implement the project in support of the Japanese government's initiative to promote young people's study abroad at the 2023 Education Future Creation Conference. President Linus Jonsson commented, "We hope that many young people will go abroad and be able to make a significant contribution to Japan's future."
