Tokyo University of Science has formulated a new initiative, the "TUS SciTech Initiative," in preparation for its 2031th anniversary in 150. Starting with collaboration in the fields of medicine, science, engineering and pharmacy with The Jikei University of Medicine, the university aims to become a world-class research university that brings together researchers from around the world.
According to Tokyo University of Science, the TUS SciTech initiative aims to promote collaboration with other universities that have strengths in cutting-edge research fields in which Tokyo University of Science has strengths, such as space and terrestrial sustainable space, multi-hazard disaster prevention, and future medicine, with the aim of accelerating the university's evolution into one that covers the most diverse range of science and engineering fields in Japan.
The starting point of this is the medical, engineering and pharmaceutical collaboration with the Jikei University School of Medicine, which signed a partnership agreement in 2013. This will be developed into a new inter-university collaboration that will lead the way for the future, and a base for interdisciplinary collaborative research will be established by establishing collaborative laboratories and promoting personnel collaboration at all stages. The two schools have also applied for collaboration in the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science's "Regional Core and Distinctive Research University Strengthening Promotion Project."
Tokyo University of Science plans to increase the number of universities participating in collaborations in the future and to enhance interdisciplinary research.
