Tokyo University of the Arts will hold its university festival, Geisai 2024, at its Ueno campus for three days from Friday, September 9th to Sunday, September 6th, 9. The Geisai is held annually by students, mainly through an executive committee, and this year will mark the 8th time it has been held.

According to Tokyo University of the Arts, this year's theme for the Geisai is "En." Circle, banquet, performance, flame, distance... Two hiragana characters that contain a variety of meanings. The word, which can be a useful weapon in any situation, was chosen with the hope of protecting the daily life with friends and the long tradition of the Geisai by continuing to reexamine the meaning of things that we take for granted. The main visual was also chosen from a public competition of students based on the word "En."

The mikoshi and happi coats, one of the main events of the art festival, were made by first-year undergraduate students who were divided into four teams across departments and worked together to create them. The delicate yet powerful mikoshi will be on display in a mikoshi performance at Ueno Park and on the road in front of the university. On campus, models of mikoshi and happi coats from past years will be exhibited, along with the history of the art festival.

In addition, on campus, there will be numerous concerts and outdoor live shows planned by students, works from each department of the Faculty of Fine Arts and works by student volunteers will be exhibited, and each stall will sell menus that students have put a lot of thought into. In addition, goods and pamphlets designed by students based on the main visuals of the festival will be sold exclusively during the event period. The pamphlets are packed with content such as introductions to the festival's exhibitions and concerts, a shuttle run by students from across the majors of the art university, a picture chain project, and interviews with celebrities. An art market will also be held in Ueno Park where students will sell their own creations, with a colorful lineup of accessories, stickers, ceramics, zines, and more.
