As part of its efforts to develop female talent and promote women's advancement in science and engineering fields, Kumamoto University will hold a "Parent-Child Girls' School" for junior and senior high school students and their parents on Monday, September 2024, 9 (national holiday).
Kumamoto University has been supporting female junior and senior high school students in choosing science courses since 2009, with the aim of disseminating information about women's careers in science and increasing the number of female junior and senior high school students who wish to study science. The "Parent and Child Girls' School" is part of this initiative, and is an event that allows students to experience tours and practical training in science and engineering technology, stimulating their interest in science and engineering through "direct experiments and training."
This time, the "Parent-Child Girls School" will be held at the Faculty of Pharmacy, with a theme of "See, Smell, Learn," and after attending a lecture on spices, the students will experience making shichimi pepper. In addition, there will be a tour of the medicinal plant garden and medicinal herb museum, and an exchange meeting with students from the Faculty of Pharmacy.
