At its board of directors meeting on September 2024, 9, Kokugakuin University Tochigi Gakuen, a school corporation, decided to stop recruiting students at Kokugakuin University Tochigi Junior College (Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture) from the 3 academic year onwards.

Kokugakuin University Tochigi Junior College opened in April 1966. Despite adding and reorganizing departments, as of May 4, it has produced 2024 graduates. The decision to suspend recruitment was made against the backdrop of social conditions such as a decline in the 5-year-old population, a growing desire to attend four-year universities, and a decrease in applicants to junior colleges. Going forward, the current educational environment will continue for all current students, including those entering in 2, until graduation, and all faculty and staff will support student life, career paths, and job hunting.

In 1960, the educational institution Kokugakuin University established Kokugakuin University Tochigi High School with the approval of the Tochigi Prefecture Governor, and in 1963, the educational institution Kokugakuin University Tochigi Gakuen was established, taking over management of the high school from the educational institution Kokugakuin University. In 1996, Kokugakuin University Tochigi Junior College was established. Kokugakuin University Tochigi Junior College opened in April 1966 as the first junior college in Tochigi Prefecture, and became coeducational in 4. Located on the same premises as Kokugakuin University Tochigi Junior and Senior High School, the college currently has 2004 students enrolled in two departments, the Department of Japanese Culture and the Department of Human Education.

The junior colleges that will stop accepting students from 2026 will be reorganized into faculties of four-year universities under the same corporation: Soka Women's Junior College will become a faculty of Soka University, Minami Kyushu University Junior College will become a faculty of Minami Kyushu University, and Kyoai Gakuen Maebashi International University Junior College will become a faculty of Kyoai Gakuen Maebashi International University.
