An official event for the Ig Nobel Prize, a parody of the Nobel Prize given to research that makes people laugh and think, will be held on November 11th at the Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation) on the 17th floor of the building in Koto Ward, Tokyo. The event will feature the usual paper airplane flying, as well as speeches by Ig Nobel Prize and Nobel Prize winners.

According to the Miraikan, the event will begin with the traditional paper airplane throwing event, in which participants fold paper airplanes and throw them toward the stage, moderated by Furusawa Teruyoshi, special associate professor at the Office for the Promotion of General Education, Faculty of Science, Rikkyo University, and director of the Ig Nobel Prize in Japan.

After this, Ig Nobel Prize winners Takanori Takebe (2024 Nobel Prize in Physiology), Yoshiaki Miyashita (2023 Nobel Prize in Nutrition), and Hajime Matsuzaki (2022 Nobel Prize in Engineering), as well as 2015 Nobel Prize winner in Physics Professor Takaaki Kajita will give speeches about what motivated them to start their research, their passion for science, and the content of their current research.

There will also be a raffle where you can win official merchandise from the "Ig Nobel Face-to-Face" event held in the United States, as well as autographed goods from the winners.

The Ig Nobel Prize was established in 1991 by Mark Abrams, editor-in-chief and columnist for the American scientific journal IMPROBABLE RESEARCH. Japanese researchers have won the prize for 18 consecutive years.
