Aoyama Trading Co., Ltd. has developed a suit called "Shoulder-Free Suit" that reduces shoulder pressure by one-fifth through industry-academia collaboration with Kobe University. Sales began on Thursday, October 5, 1 at Aoyama Clothing stores nationwide and the official online store.
In response to customer requests for "a suit that looks neat but is comfortable to wear," Aoyama Trading has combined the men's tailoring techniques it has cultivated over many years at "Aoyama Clothing" with ideas from women's clothing to create a comfortable suit that allows a greater range of shoulder movement than conventional suits, called the "Suit That Doesn't Hurt the Shoulders."
The jacket's stitching has been changed to allow for greater shoulder mobility and to express a lighter, softer feel when worn. The traditional stitching, which involves sewing the entire armhole, has been changed to a stitching method that reduces the number of stitches, a feature of women's wear, while still providing strength. The outer fabric is made of a polyester material that was developed in-house to bring out the benefits of this stitching.
Professor Mari Inoue, who is researching clothing pressure at Kobe University, cooperated in a "comparative verification of internal clothing pressure when wearing suits with special sewing specifications," and quantified the ease of movement, proving that pressure on the shoulders was up to one-fifth compared to conventional suits.
The "shoulder-friendly suit" is easy to maintain and comfortable to wear, but thanks to the three-dimensional sewing technology that the company has cultivated over the years, it also looks neat. The selling price is 32,890 yen including tax.
