Sagami Women's University (Sagamihara, Kanagawa Prefecture) has announced a plan to develop the educational content of the Department of Food and Nutrition in the Junior College, which currently consists of only one department, and to establish a "Department of Regional Creation" in the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences in 2026, which will comprehensively study food and agriculture, local food culture, tourism, and regional development. As a result, the Junior College will stop accepting students from 2026.

According to Sagami Women's University, the Sagami Women's University Junior College was established in 1951 as an annex to Sagami Women's University. When it first opened, it had four departments: Commerce, Japanese Literature, English Literature, and Home Economics. Later, in response to changes in society and the needs of students, some departments were reorganized into university departments, and as of 4, only the Department of Food and Nutrition remained.

In addition to the "Department of Regional Creation Studies" in the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, which the university plans to establish from 2026, it is also planning to reorganize the Faculty of Liberal Arts' Department of English, Culture and Communication to establish a "Department of International Communication." More information on the plans for these new departments will be posted on the university's website in late November 2024.

In addition, the university has announced that it will responsibly maintain the educational system for current students in the junior college division until graduation, and that the traditions of the junior college division will be carried on throughout Sagami Women's University.
