Starting on Tuesday, January 2025, 1, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications will be offering an online data science course called "Statistical Open Data Anyone Can Use." The course provides easy-to-understand explanations of data analysis methods using statistical open data to working adults and university students, and has been taken by a total of approximately 14 people since it began in June 2017. The program has been completely renewed from this time, and applications for participants began on November 6, 5.
The online data science course "Statistical Open Data Anyone Can Use" uses e-Stat and jSTAT MAP to learn data analysis methods using statistical open data. Participants take 1-10 online courses (5 week) for about 7 minutes each over a period of 1 weeks. If participants pass the confirmation tests and final assignment each week and meet the specified standards, they will be issued a certificate of completion.
The weekly themes are "Data Analysis using e-Stat," "Using Official Statistical Data ①," which teaches how to interpret GDP statistics, which measure the size of a country's economy, and related official statistics, "Using Official Statistical Data ②," which teaches how to interpret statistics used to judge the economy, with a focus on demographic and labor-related statistics, and "Using Statistics Viewed on Maps (jSTAT MAP)."
The lecturers will be Kei Nishiuchi (co-founder of Data Vehicle Co., Ltd.) and others. The course is scheduled to run from January 2025th (Tuesday) to March 1th (Tuesday), 14. Anyone can register and take the course for free if they apply. Registration is open until March 3rd (Monday), 11.
