Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) and Kyushu Institute of Technology have been selected for the "Support Project for Creating Social Impact through University Internationalization" under the "FY6 University Education Revitalization Strategy Promotion Fund" promoted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
The "Support Project for Creating Social Impact through University Internationalization" aims to promote further internationalization of universities through the establishment of a system for international co-learning both domestically and internationally, and to create a virtuous cycle in which the following three factors interact with each other: the dispatch of Japanese students to study abroad, and the acceptance and retention of excellent international students.
From 2024 to 2030, the two universities will work together in Kyushu for six years to create new value through collaboration with people from various cultural and social backgrounds, aiming to cultivate talent who can lead and realize change to improve society. The university's role both in Japan and overseas will go beyond that of an educational institution, and it will establish itself as a "hub of knowledge" that contributes to the sustainable development of the region and society, promoting further internationalization from Kyushu to the world.
This project has two categories: "Type I: Community Collaboration," which supports the creation of a university-wide implementation system for international co-learning, improving the quality of international student acceptance with a focus on the exit, and activities in collaboration with the local community; and "Type II: Overseas Expansion," which supports the creation of an environment in which students can be sent abroad and the creation of a co-learning environment locally by utilizing existing overseas bases within overseas universities. APU and Kyushu Institute of Technology applied for and were selected for "Type I: Community Collaboration."
