The Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology have signed an agreement on high school-university collaboration, and decided to work on the development of a program to train researchers through integrated education from high school to university and graduate school based on Tama High School of Science and Technology. The Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education will be introduced on a trial basis from 2020 and will be expanded to other schools.
According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education, the signing ceremony of the agreement was held in the Board of Education room of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and was attended by Keizo Nakai, Director of Education, Yasushi Shiratori, Director of Tama High School of Science and Technology, and Hiroyuki Ohno, President of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology.President Nakai and President Ohno signed and exchanged the agreement.
The agreement aims to foster high school students' background as researchers from an early stage by receiving special lectures by university researchers and experiments and research guidance by graduate students. It is also considered that the results will be evaluated by university and high school teachers and reflected in the university entrance examination.
In line with this, we will make it possible to smoothly connect high school classes to specialized learning at university, and devise ways to create a consistent educational curriculum between high school and university. At the same time, consider giving regular feedback to high school about the situation after entering university.
