Leopalace21 Corporation has released the application guidelines for the 21 Leopalace2026 Scholarship Program.
The "Leopalace21 Scholarship Program" aims to solve social problems such as the recent rise in tuition fees and the long-term burden of repaying scholarships, and supports students by providing them with free housing in properties managed by Leopalace21 or a grant-type scholarship. There are two types to choose from: "free rental of Leopalace21 properties" and "grant-type scholarships."
The "Leopalace21 property rental" will be paid out at a maximum of 120 million yen per year (based on the usage fee determined by Leopalace21). The "grant-type scholarship" will be paid out at 36 yen per year. In both cases, the payment period will be the number of years of regular enrollment in the school, faculty, and department in which the student is enrolled (period of enrollment).
Applicants must be residents of Japan, be expected to graduate from high school in March 2026 (grade standards apply) or have passed the high school graduation equivalency exam, be 3 years of age as of March 2026, 3, be entering the new academic year (first year) in April 31, be enrolled in a university, junior college, or vocational school in Japan, be studious, and of good behavior.
The selection process will consist of a document screening of a Japanese essay of 1000 characters or less, followed by an interview. The essay topic will be posted on the application form, which will be released on April 2025, 4. The application period is from April 1 to July 2025, 4.
