On Saturday, February 2025, 2, the University of Tokyo and global academic publisher Springer Nature will host the 8 SDGs Symposium "Addressing Inequality for Sustainability and Well-Being." It will bring together Japanese researchers and members of the broader community to explore the important intersection of inequality and the Sustainable Development Goals. Participation is free.
The symposium will critically examine how inequalities should be understood and addressed to achieve sustainability and well-being. Presentations will be given by Japanese researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of SDG5 (gender equality), SDG10 (reduced inequalities within and among countries), SDG17 (partnership for the goals) and other SDGs. Magdalena Schipper, Editor-in-Chief of Nature, will also be on stage. Speakers will discuss how research can provide equitable solutions to these important challenges and explore how cutting-edge research can be adopted and implemented in inclusive ways in policy and society.
