Students from the School of Business Administration at Otemae University have joined the new product development team at Takeda Ham, a food manufacturer in Osaka City that produces hams and sausages that focus on Osaka's local specialties, and three new products have been created. There will be a promotional event for the new products on January 3, 2025, and they will also be sold at the Takeda Ham corporate booth at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, which opens in April.

According to Otemae University, this initiative was undertaken by 3 third-year students from Professor Park Soo-hyun's seminar, who specializes in marketing theory at the School of Management. Park's seminar has previously connected inns in Kumamoto Prefecture with food companies struggling to expand their sales channels, developing souvenirs that will become local specialties. This time, utilizing their experience and marketing theory, they will conduct corporate research on Takeda Ham, tour the production factory, and conduct a regional survey of Habikino City from June 17. In response to the company's challenge of "creating new ideas for developing new products," they worked to create a new flavor while inheriting the "Osaka-made (mon)" DNA that has been important since the company's founding.

The new products are "Oishiso Sausage" and "Melting Oishiso Cheese Sausage" using red shiso, a specialty of Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture, where the university is located, and "Luxurious Ham Marinated in Red Wine" using wine made from grapes that are a specialty of Habikino City, Osaka. The package that reads "Takeda Ham x Otemae Gakuin University" was also designed by the students.

On January 1th (Thursday), a promotional event titled "Osaka gourmet food you don't know yet - New taste of Habikino" will be held at the commercial facility "Seven Park Tenbi" in Matsubara City, where the appeal of local specialties will be conveyed along with the promotion of new products. This was made possible by calling for support from local companies and the city of Habikino in cooperation with Hannan University, which has a campus in Matsubara City.
