The number of students who have completed the Showa Women's University Double Degree Program has reached 107. In addition, two students who studied at the University of Queensland in Australia through the program will graduate from the university in December 2, and in 2024 they will be the first to complete the program with the University of Queensland.
In the "Double Degree Program," students study at Showa Women's University for two and a half to three years and at a partner university overseas for two years, with the aim of obtaining a degree from both universities. When it first began, the program was only available to students in the Faculty of International Studies, but from the fall of 2, students in the Department of Business Design will also be able to study at Temple University Japan Campus, giving more students the opportunity to try to obtain a double degree.
Students who wish to participate take program classes from the first semester of their first year, and once they meet the academic and language proficiency standards, they can study at a partner university overseas. Tuition fees during their studies are covered by Showa Women's University tuition fees, and financial support is provided through scholarships and other programs. In this program, students use foreign languages such as English, Korean, and Chinese to study specialized fields such as culture, history, and society in the same curriculum as local students. In addition to acquiring advanced foreign language skills, by studying collaboratively with a diverse range of students, students are able to hone the mental strength and multicultural communication skills necessary to succeed in an international setting.
