In order to develop human resources who can play an active role in the global financial world, the Tokyo Metropolitan University School of Economics and Management will launch the "Special Program for Developing International Financial Human Resources" in April 2025. In advance of this, a symposium will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2025, for high school students and related parties interested in Tokyo Metropolitan University, as well as Tokyo Metropolitan University students, with guests including Haruhiko Kuroda, former Governor of the Bank of Japan, and Teruhisa Kurita, former Commissioner of the Financial Services Agency. Participation is free.

With the progress of globalization, changes in overseas economic policies and international situations have caused large fluctuations in exchange rates, greatly affecting the Japanese economy and business world. In this context, it is urgent to develop human resources who can study international financial trends theoretically and empirically and use English to compete in business with overseas companies.

Therefore, the Tokyo Metropolitan University Faculty of Economics and Management will launch the "Special Program for International Finance Human Resource Development" in April 2025, where students can learn the basics of economics and management and their practice while also strengthening their English language skills. The program aims to develop human resources who can link theory and practice by learning micro- and macro-theories in the fields of economics and management, statistical and quantitative analysis methods, and acquiring the basic knowledge to perform data analysis themselves, as well as listening to lectures by experts who have actually been in charge of international finance policies and practices.

This symposium, which will be held prior to the launch of the special program, will feature speeches by Haruhiko Kuroda, former Governor of the Bank of Japan, and Teruhisa Kurita, former Commissioner of the Financial Services Agency, on the theme of "International Financial Human Resource Development and Financial Trends." There will also be a speech by Govinda Finn of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management entitled "International Financial Human Resource Development from the Perspective of a London-based Asset Management Professional," as well as a panel discussion.
