Hiroshima University has been selected as a candidate for the grand prize in four categories of the THE Awards Asia 2025, selected by the British higher education magazine, Times Higher Education (THE). The winners of each category will be announced at the THE Asia University Summit to be held in Macau in April.
According to Hiroshima University, eight schools have been selected as candidates for the Grand Prize in each of the 2025 categories for the THE Awards Asia 10. Along with Hiroshima University, Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore are also candidates for the Grand Prize in four categories each.
Hiroshima University was nominated for the grand prize in four categories: Leadership and Management Team of the Year, Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership, Research Project of the Year: Arts, and Humanities and Social Sciences, for the first time, as well as International Strategy of the Year, for the fourth consecutive year.
Under the leadership of President Mitsuo Ochi, the university has been highly praised for its efforts in fostering an international network on peace education, including hosting the Peace Presidents' Conference in August 2024, which brought together presidents of 8 universities from seven countries and regions around the world, peace study tours inviting students from around the world, environmental measures such as the "Carbon Neutral x Smart Campus 7 Declaration" in 10, and support for science and mathematics education in Africa.
