According to statistics compiled by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the number of applicants for the second round of entrance exams at national and public universities in 2025 has increased by 2 people from the previous year to 5,241 people. The ratio of applicants to available places is 42 times, 8,501 points higher than last year. The first half of the exam will start on February 0.1th, the second half will be held from March 4.4th onwards, and the second half will be held from March 2th onwards.

 According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the number of applicants to national universities was 24, 29 more than last year, making the ratio 9,739. The number of applicants to public universities was 4.0, 5,217 more than last year, making the ratio 12. The ratios by early, mid-term, and late term were 8,762 for national universities and 5.7 for public universities, 2.8 for public universities, and 3.4 for national universities and 13.8 for public universities in the early term.

 By faculty, the ratio was 5.0 times for pharmacy and nursing, 4.6 times for medicine, dentistry, and humanities and social sciences, 4.2 times for science and engineering, agriculture, and fisheries, 3.6 times for teacher training, and 4.7 times for information and other fields. By university, the highest ratios were national at Joetsu University of Education (9.0 times), Tokyo University of the Arts (7.9 times), and Nara University of Education (7.7 times). Among public universities, Yamaguchi University of Science (12.9 times), Tsuru University of Literature (10.7 times), and Shimonoseki City University (9.9 times).

 Tokyo University of Science, which was established by merging the Tokyo Institute of Technology and Tokyo Medical and Dental University, saw a 4.5-fold increase, while Fukui Prefectural University, which opened the first dinosaur department in the country, saw a 6.7-fold increase, with the dinosaur department's first-term schedule seeing a 7.3-fold increase.

 大学入学共通テストの成績で2次試験受験を制限する2段階選抜は、国立大学27校・49学部と公立大学9校・12学部の合計36校・61学部で実施された。第1段階選抜では東京大学で893人、東京都立大学で772人など国公立大学で合わせて4,459人が不合格となった。

Please note that Akita International University, University of Niigata Prefecture, Eikei University, and The University of Arts, Culture, and Tourism are not included as they conduct exams on their own schedules.
