Each winner will receive a prize of US$250,000 to further their research activities, and will have the opportunity to have their results featured on Nature's website. The winners are scheduled to be announced in early 2026. Applications will be evaluated by an independent global judging committee based on the difficulty and innovation of the topic, superior concept, impact, and social significance. The judging committee will be composed of Magdalena Skipper, Editor-in-Chief of Nature, Hiroaki Kitano, Executive Vice President and CTO of Sony Group Corporation, as well as leading experts in technology and science.
Kitano commented, "The first finalists and winners of the Sony Women in Technology Award with Nature were announced in November and February, respectively. The winners are pioneers of fascinating, interdisciplinary research that has an impact on the real world outside the laboratory. We expect this year's applicants to also embody excellence and work hard to further develop the global community of researchers. We look forward to receiving applications from researchers, whether they are in the early or mid-career stages, and we are eager to support your passion for research."
