Waseda University has signed a basic agreement for collaboration and cooperation with the RIKEN Institute. The two will open a collaboration center at Waseda University and work together on cutting-edge research, including joint research into quantum physics.
According to Waseda University, the first joint research project will be a quantum physics project led by Professor Takaaki Aoki of the School of Advanced Science and Engineering and Professor Takeshi Fukuhara of the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering. The collaboration center is expected to open in April.
Modern society is facing rapid changes in industrial structure and difficult global environmental issues, while at the same time, quantum computers, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and other technologies are advancing dramatically, ushering in a new era. In this context, Waseda University and RIKEN are collaborating to advance research, aiming to generate new wisdom for solving social issues and bringing about social change.
In addition to promoting joint research, the two companies also plan to foster human resources who will be active in industry and academia and contribute to the world, and to promote mutual use of research facilities.
