The National Center for University Entrance Examinations will digitize application procedures starting with the 2026 Common University Entrance Test, which will be held on Saturday, January 1th and Sunday, January 17th, 18. Students can create their own personal pages from Tuesday, July 2026st, and applications will be accepted from 7:1 on Tuesday, September 9th. The details will be officially decided in the Common Test Implementation Guidelines, which are scheduled to be published in June 16.
According to the National Center for University Entrance Examinations, when applying, applicants themselves create their own My Page on the common test application website, and all procedures such as registering and correcting application details, obtaining examination tickets, and viewing grades are carried out on that My Page. My Pages can be created by accessing the common test application website between July 7st (Tuesday) and October 1rd (Friday) and registering an account. After creating your My Page, notifications from the National Center for University Entrance Examinations will be sent to your My Page and registered email address.
Therefore, an electronic device such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet connected to the internet, an email address, and a photo of your face (taken after July 2025, 7) will be required. There will no longer be a need to attach a photo, and applicants who have already graduated will no longer need to submit documents proving eligibility to apply, such as a graduation certificate, which they previously had to provide. The exam guide, which was previously distributed in a booklet, will also be available for download from the National Center for University Entrance Examinations website.
If you do not have access to the Internet, you will need to obtain permission to apply by mail. In that case, please contact the National Center for University Entrance Examinations' dedicated telephone number for applicant inquiries between July 7st (Tuesday) and September 1th (Friday) to submit the necessary application forms and complete the necessary procedures.
Applications will be accepted from 9:16 on Tuesday, September 10th to 10:3 on Friday, October 17rd by registering applicant information such as name, address, phone number, application qualifications, photo, subjects to be taken, and payment method for the examination fee on My Page. Previously, students enrolled in high school applied through their school, but now all applicants will apply individually.
The examination fee will also be accepted during the application period. The examination fee remains the same as before: 3 yen for three or more subjects, and 1 yen for two subjects. If you wish to view your grades, you will need to pay a grade viewing fee of 8,000 yen in addition to the examination fee.
Future updates and operating manuals for the common test application site will be provided on the National Center for University Entrance Examinations website from time to time.
