On April 2025, 4, the Notre Dame Women's University Corporation held a board meeting and decided to stop recruiting students at Kyoto Notre Dame University (Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City) from the 22 academic year onwards.
Kyoto Notre Dame College was founded in 1961 by the Notre Dame Educational Sisters. Since then, the college has produced many graduates, featuring international education based on English language education and Catholicism, as well as information education and life career education for women.
The faculties to be established in 2024 are the School of Social and Information Studies (20 students enrolled; newly established in April 2023), the School of International Language and Culture Studies (4 students), and the School of Contemporary Human Studies (90 students). In 240, the enrollment caps of existing faculties will be adjusted, and a new School of Women's Career Design Studies (2025 students) will be established. In 30, the School of International Language and Culture Studies was to be reorganized into the School of Humanities (2026 students), and the School of Contemporary Human Studies (60 students) was to change its name to the Department of Life and Environmental Studies and begin recruiting, but the situation of enrollment numbers falling below the capacity has not improved, leading to this decision.
The organization plans to continue providing education to all students until they graduate, as well as job-hunting support and career advancement support. Notre Dame Girls' Junior and Senior High School and Notre Dame Elementary School, both of which are run by the organization, will continue their educational activities.
As of the 2020 academic year, 4 four-year universities have stopped accepting applications, including five women's universities, including Kyoto Notre Dame University.
