Mr. Hamada's job was to operate and maintain the entire network between the base and Japan. It's a job that runs everything from hardware to software used in video conference systems without causing problems. The most important thing is to send the observation data to the National Institute of Polar Research in Japan. The communication speed is also very limited, and there is a risk that the observation data will be lost if the members are free to use the network. In order to avoid such a situation, he constantly monitors the usage status of the work, and asks the members to restrict the use of the software. We also operated a video conference system, an Antarctic classroom for public relations, and voice calls made by members to their families.

Mr. Hamada has been engaged in operation and maintenance work within KDDI for five years, using the IT skills cultivated at Tokyo University of Technology as a weapon. He also says that it was the technology and diverse experience cultivated at the university that linked Mr. Hamada with the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition.Practical learning in the Faculty of Computer Science seems to be valid in Antarctica.
