The problem of Japan's declining birthrate is serious, but the reality of heterosexual intercourse that leads to pregnancy and childbirth has not been known so far.A research group led by Professor Kenji Shibuya of the University of Tokyo analyzed the data of the Basic Survey on Birth Trends conducted by the National Institute of Population and Social Security Research in order to understand the actual situation of heterosexual negotiations in Japan. It turned out that one in ten people in their thirties had never had sexual intercourse.

From seven basic surveys of birth trends (7-1987), the research group targeted adults aged 2015-18 years (39-1987 years old only in 18) with a sample size of 34-11,553 [17,850-1987]. Data (response rate 2010-70.0%) is used.Based on this, the percentage of inexperienced age-adjusted heterosexual intercourse by gender / age group is calculated. In order to find out the factors of inexperienced heterosexual intercourse, we adjusted the age in the 92.5 survey and analyzed it.

As a result, the percentage of inexperienced heterosexual intercourse between 1992 and 2015 increased from 18% to 39% for females and from 21.7% to 24.6% for males between the ages of 20.0 and 25.8. Between the ages of 30 and 34, females increased from 6.2% to 11.9% and males increased from 8.8% to 12.7%. Females increased from 35% to 39% between the ages of 4.0 and 8.9.In men it increased from 5.5% to 9.5%.

It was found that the percentage of Japanese adults who had never experienced sexual intercourse has increased over the past 20 years. In addition, one in ten people in their thirties answered that they had no experience of sexual intercourse. For men (ages 30-10), unemployment, non-regular / short-time employment, and low income were associated with inexperienced heterosexual intercourse.Similar surveys in the United Kingdom (1-25) and Australia (39-2010) show that less than 2011% of both men and women are in their 2012s.

Heterosexual intercourse is the basis of human reproductive activity, and sexual health and satisfaction with sexuality are important for a better life.Further research is needed in the future on the factors behind the increasing rate of inexperienced sexual intercourse among Japanese adults, their impact on public health, and their impact on vital statistics.
