The Japan Science and Technology Agency has selected five institutions, including Hiroshima University, as the 2019 recruitment institutions for junior doctor training schools that discover elementary and junior high school students with outstanding abilities in the fields of science and mathematics and information. The selected organizations in 2019 received applications from 15 universities nationwide, and as a result of examination by the promotion committee by outside academic experts, Asahikawa National College of Technology, Niigata University, Shinshu University, Maizuru Industrial College of Technology, Five institutions of Hiroshima University were selected. Support costs of up to 5 million yen per case will be paid to the five institutions for up to five years.
Elementary and junior high school students who take the course will be exposed to actual research activities in laboratories such as universities, and will also engage in research under the individual guidance of teachers.Nationwide events are also planned, including joint training camps by outstanding elementary and junior high school students, exchanges with top-class university students in Japan, and international students from overseas.
