The G2019 Osaka Summit held on June 6th and 28th, 29.During the period, a booth was set up to display and disseminate the charms of Osaka and Kansai to overseas media, and university students in Osaka Prefecture acted as interpreter volunteers. Two people from Osaka Gakuin University also participated and translated in English.

Volunteer interpreters were Fumiya Nakamura and Misaki Yoshida, third-year students of the Faculty of Foreign Studies, Osaka Gakuin University.Mr. Nakamura is a booth of advanced technology, where Mr. Maiko introduces Japanese technology explained by researchers of cutting-edge medical technology makers who make full use of robots and AI, and Mr. Yoshida is a booth where Ms. Maiko introduces teahouse play in Kyoto. In addition, we introduced traditional culture such as tatami mat play, Japanese dance, and samisen in English.

Mr. Nakamura said, "I was happy that the reporters said,'The explanation at the booth was easy to understand. I'm glad I came to Japan.' It gave me confidence, but now that I can see the challenges, I want to study more for a year before graduation. "For Mr. Nakamura, who is aiming to become an English teacher, it seems that the response of the English proficiency cultivated in the LEI English program of the Faculty of Foreign Studies and the presence of colleagues from other universities that he met as volunteers became a further driving force.

Mr. Yoshida commented, "I would like to work in a place where I can convey hospitality in the future, so I would like to study hard so that people overseas can understand the spirit of Japanese hospitality widely and deeply." This volunteer was a volunteer who honed his speaking skills in the LEI English program, but he said he had set the goal of working in the hotel industry with the goal of achieving a TOEIC score of 900 in the future.

Osaka Gakuin University established the Language Education Institute (LEI) in 2013 and is offering its own program "LEI English Program".We welcome professional instructors who have a master's degree in English education from Columbia University, and through discussions and workshops, we are developing students who can think and communicate in English.
