The New Industry Creation Hatchery Center of Tohoku University is close to Luup, Inc., which is engaged in the electric micro-mobility sharing business, and will start a demonstration experiment on the infrastructure construction and power supply system of the electric kickboard. Scheduled to be held from August to September 2019.
The demonstration experiment was held at Tohoku University Aobayama Campus in Aoba Ward, Sendai City.During the period, Tohoku University students and faculty members will test drive the electric kickboard, Luup will collect data for social implementation, and Tohoku University will explore the possibility of applying cutting-edge technology.
Luup is aiming for social implementation of electric micromobility, saying that the population of Japanese society is declining and the last mile of transportation may be lost. The electric micro-mobility that is used more in the world is the electric kickboard, and the Tohoku University Aobayama Campus has a large site and roads are well maintained, so we decided to proceed with a demonstration experiment in collaboration with Tohoku University.
The electric kickboard corresponds to the motorized bicycle of the Road Traffic Act and the Road Transport Vehicle Act, and you need to have a moped license to drive. It is also obligatory to maintain headlights and turn signals, take out liability insurance, and wear a helmet.
