From November 2019, 11, one night and two days, Otemon Gakuin University Faculty of Regional Creation conducted a questionnaire survey on inbound accommodations in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture.Part of service improvement measures and practical education programs for increasing foreign tourists.
Tanabe City has a part of the "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range", which was registered as a World Heritage Site in 2004, in the city area, and is working to "create a tourist destination open to the world" through public-private collaboration.In particular, the target is individual travelers from Europe, the United States and Australia, who are working to disseminate the deep culture and history of the region in an easy-to-understand manner, and to create a system for tourist operators such as accommodation facilities.
Otemon Gakuin University signed a cooperation agreement with Tanabe City on community development, industrial promotion, etc. in September 2015, and was adopted by the city's "University Cooperation Community Development Project" while receiving financial support, mainly from the accommodation facility side and foreign countries. Responsible for solving problems in communication between people and tourists.
In this survey, 13 students from the Faculty of Regional Creation stayed on the way to Kumano Hongu Taisha, which is a World Heritage Site, and 8 accommodation facilities such as hotels and guest houses in the center of Tanabe City. Visited 6 facilities.In addition to conducting a questionnaire survey of facility managers to investigate issues related to dealing with foreign tourists, we also conducted an interview survey with foreign tourists by actually staying overnight.In addition, from the survey conducted by the faculty members in February and September 2019, there is a request to develop a dedicated application that allows easy communication in addition to the list of English notation placed in the accommodation facility, so about the function of the application. Also investigated.The survey results will be reported to Tanabe City in February 2.
