Chiba University of Commerce is opening a limited-time cafe "GO! Try! FAIRTRADE!" At the Atrium of Building No. 2020 from January 1th (Thursday) to 9th (Friday), 10.

 This activity is a project in which students themselves plan and execute new services as part of regular lessons that are accredited for credits.Open a cafe for the purpose of enlightening the 12th goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), "Responsibility to make and responsibility to use (ethical consumption)". With the concept of "a cafe where everyone can understand fair trade correctly and take immediate action," we aim to create an atmosphere where visitors can learn about "fair trade" and take action together while participating together.

 Most of the menus offered are Fair Trade certified products, and many ingredients for local production for local consumption are incorporated.Drinks are served in biodegradable plastic containers, and drink services are also offered to those who bring their own bottles.In addition, part of the menu is being developed with student entrepreneurs who run restaurants on campus.

 Several related events will also be held during the activity period.In the "Choco Banana Handmade Class" for children, students use fair trade certified ingredients and teach children how to make chocolate bananas (free participation, 10 groups per day only).In the mini-seminar, students will give presentations and discussions on the theme of fair trade.In addition, fair trade certified products will be exhibited, panel exhibitions explaining fair trade, and SDGs awareness surveys will be held.

* Biodegradable plastics are biological plastics, and unlike petroleum-derived plastics, they are eaten by microorganisms and decomposed, so they do not accumulate as garbage and are environmentally friendly.
