On January 2020, 20, a letter of appreciation was presented by JR East to students of the Faculty of International Studies, Bunkyo University.The project that we have been working on in collaboration with JR Chigasaki Station for the purpose of improving services to foreign users, which has been increasing in recent years, was highly evaluated.
At JR Chigasaki Station, we have been working to improve services for foreign users since 2017 in anticipation of an increase in foreign users and the holding of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.Bunkyo University Shonan Campus is located about 25 minutes by bus from Chigasaki Station, and since many students use it to go to school, we received a request for cooperation regarding the English announcement at the station.From there, a joint project between the Faculty of International Studies, Bunkyo University and JR Chigasaki Station began.
In 2018, the English announcements proposed by the students of the Faculty of International Studies were recorded, and since the broadcast started, the students have proposed various service improvement measures, saying that there are other things that can be done.For foreign tourists visiting Enoshima and Kamakura, we created a poster containing tourist information and route information and posted it on the station premises, and also provided English instruction to station staff.Students play role-playing with station staff as foreign users.The poster for station staff guidance created by the students at this time is read aloud at the morning assembly of the station.In addition to English, Chinese announcements will be made at the station.As of January 2020, it is being broadcast at Chigasaki Station with the cooperation of international students.
The students' efforts over the past two years were highly evaluated, and on January 2, 2020, a ceremony to present a letter of appreciation for cooperating students was held at Bunkyo University Shonan Campus.Bunkyo University Dean Okuda, Professor Ano of the Faculty of International Studies and students attended and received a letter of appreciation from JR Odawara District Director and Kayagasaki Stationmaster.
