The Central Council for Education's "Flagship University Review Working Group (WG) for Teacher Training" has selected a small number of universities that will play a leading role in promoting teacher training in response to the new era of advanced science and technology. We have compiled a final report requesting that the school be a base school.
According to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the final report points out that the current situation of teacher training colleges and faculties of education does not have a system that can flexibly develop human resources that meet the issues and needs expected by educational sites, and breaks through this situation. Therefore, the flagship university for teacher training, which leads the training of teachers suitable for the new era, was needed.
The role of the flagship university for teacher training is
・ Promote leading and innovative initiatives and become a driving force to spread the results to other schools
・ Play a central role in the network for deploying leading and innovative initiatives to other schools
・ In order to solve the problems facing education, we will present countermeasures based on theory and practice, and make policy proposals for the near future image of teacher training.
-We are requesting that only a small number of universities that can fulfill these roles and functions be selected.
At the time of its establishment, the government should promote a system that enables leading and innovative efforts, financial support, and open recruitment and selection by the end of 2021, assuming the start of the efforts from 2020. ..
After holding the first meeting in May 2019, the WG has held meetings at a pace of about once a month to discuss what the flagship university for teacher training should be.
