The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science has selected 10 students, including Mariko Kimura of Kyoto University, for the 18th Ikushi Award, which is given to students in the doctoral program at the graduate school who are promoting excellent research activities.The award ceremony will be held on March 3th at the Japan Academy in Taito-ku, Tokyo, where a certificate of merit and an academic incentive of 4 million yen will be presented to the winners.

 According to the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, the Ikushi Award is given to students who have excellent academic performance at the graduate school and are enthusiastically engaged in research with the aim of fostering young researchers.The target is all fields of humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.

 This time, a total of 122 people (including one duplicate), 62 recommended by the university president and 175 recommended by the president of the society, were selected by the committee, and 1 winners were selected.
