Yokohama National University, Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance, and reinsurance broker Aon Benfield Japan received the highest award at the 29th Global Environment Awards sponsored by the Fujisankei Group. The world's first website, "Sea Map," which predicts building damage caused by natural disasters in real time, was highly evaluated.

According to Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance, when a typhoon, heavy rain, or earthquake damage occurs, Seamap predicts the number of buildings to be damaged and the damage rate by city, ward, town, and village, and displays them on the map in real time.In normal times, you can check major typhoons, heavy rains, simulations using earthquakes, and world weather information that occurred in the past.

In recent years, large-scale natural disasters that are thought to be related to climate change have occurred at home and abroad, and have a great impact on people's lives and corporate activities.Immediately after a disaster occurs, it is difficult to take a prompt and appropriate initial response due to lack of information, but if the number of damaged buildings and the predicted value of the damage rate are known for each municipality, the affected local government can respond promptly.

Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance Co., Ltd. plans to expand its functions in order to utilize Seamap for prompt rescue and support activities.

The Global Environment Awards were established in 1992 with the basic principle of industrial development and coexistence with the global environment. With the special cooperation of WWF Japan, an environmental protection organization, we commend companies, organizations, and educational institutions that have made achievements in environmental conservation activities and the realization of a sustainable society.
