According to a survey of student life conditions of the National Federation of University Co-ops, the number of college students who do not go to elections is increasing due to the increasing politics of college students. There is a growing pessimistic view of Japan's future, and the ironic reality that students who are more interested in politics are disillusioned with Japan has emerged.

The survey was conducted from October to November 2019 by 10 university co-operatives from 11 national, public and private universities nationwide, and of these, 2 universities and 1,846 respondents were collected.

According to the report, 60.4% of male students and 52.2% of female students answered that they were interested in Japanese society and politics. 2019% of the students answered that they "voted" in the upper house election in July 7, which is 44.7 points lower than in 2016 when the previous upper house election was held.

The percentage of home students who voted in the Upper House election was 64.8%, while that of boarding house students was 25.6%, which was a big difference. The main reason is that the current address did not have the right to vote, but the number of home students decreased by 10.4 points and that of boarding house students decreased by 5.9 points.

The most common reasons for not going to vote were "I had something else to do" for my home student and "I didn't have the right to vote at my current address" for my boarding house student. An increasing number of respondents said they were not interested in elections, revealing that students are further accelerating their departure from politics.

Only 23.3% of college students think that the future of Japan is bright. Compared to the 2015 survey results, it has decreased by 9.9 points, highlighting the fact that the number of pessimistic students is increasing year by year in the future of Japan.

23.8% of the students who answered that they were "not interested in society or politics" answered that they were "bright", while only 22.9% of the students who answered that they were "interested" answered that they were "bright".It can be said that students have a strong sense of disillusionment with the current state of national and local politics, and are accelerating their pessimistic view of Japan's future.
