Osaka University Institute for Microbial Diseases and Osaka University Research Foundation for Microbial Diseases (BIKEN Foundation), National Institutes of Biomedical Innovation, Health and Nutrition (hereinafter, National Institutes of Biomedical Innovation, Headquarters: Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture, Chairman: Etsuhiro Yoneda) has begun development of vaccines and testing technology for new coronavirus infections.
Osaka University has advanced experimental know-how in virus gene manipulation technology and virus-like particle protein synthesis technology, and can produce custom-made antigens.Through research and development based on these two approaches, we would like to realize the early practical application of vaccines.
In addition, since a neutralizing antibody against the virus is induced by the virus-infected person by his / her own immune system, it is more effective to isolate the neutralizing antibody from the infected person's blood and perform an antigen analysis that binds to this antibody. Aim to develop highly sex vaccine.
The policy is to utilize the research resources and know-how of the Institute for Microbial Diseases, the BIKEN Foundation, and the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for the development and practical application of vaccines, with the aim of promptly starting clinical trials.
Furthermore, we will develop this collaborative system and develop it as a platform for research and development for prevention and control of new infectious diseases in the future.
