Meiji University has decided to postpone the class start date until May 2020, 5 in view of the growing impact of the new coronavirus infection.Under these circumstances, at the seminar (educational technology) of Associate Professor Takako Kishi, Faculty of International Japanese Studies, from April 7th, Zoom etc. We have started voluntary seminar activities using our WEB tools.

1 students (32rd and 3th grade students jointly) attended the 4st Kishi Seminar online. After making an ice break with a gesture game that utilizes the student-initiated Zoom private chat function, we exchanged opinions on the projects that the students are working on and held group work of 3 to 4 people. There was also a scene where the 3th graders used the chat function to follow up in the 4rd graders who were sometimes stuck in words, and it became a seminar activity where you could discover the "how to connect" unique to online.

The students who participated in the online seminar activities gave the following positive opinions about the online seminar.

"At first, I was very worried about participating in the seminar through a two-way video conference, but I was able to listen to the opinions of others online without any problems, and I was able to speak positively. As the conversation actually progressed, the ideas were connected and developed into a student-centered project planning. When the "morning activity" project was proposed in the online seminar, the seminar students gathered with coffee at 8 o'clock in the morning from the next day, and the morning activity was realized! From free conversation, ideas spread further there.Through an online seminar, I learned that you can create as many new possibilities as you can by going beyond physical distance and connecting in an online space. “Through discussions in small groups and various opinions mentioned in the overall share, I was able to find ideas that I did not have. Also, at this seminar, I felt the closeness of the distance peculiar to online. In classroom lectures, it may be difficult for a large number of people to speak. However, online, both teachers and students could see each person's facial expressions on the same screen at the same time, and I felt that the distance was strangely close.I felt that it was at such a time that I could discover the goodness of online and create a better place for learning.
