The world's largest event "Global Game Jam 2016" where game developers from all over the world develop games at the same time will be held at 2016 venues (as of January 1) from January 29 to 31, 595. ..The Tokyo University of Technology Hachioji Campus is also the venue, and students from the University of Technology's Faculty of Media will also participate in the event and manage the venue.

 "Global Game Jam" (hereinafter referred to as "GGJ") is an instant team of 6 to 8 people who are involved in game development around the world, and develop games within 48 hours with the theme announced on the day.In a limited amount of time, we will work on innovative ideas and new technologies and methods, and the completed works will be uploaded to the website all at once and evaluated by developers all over the world.

 GGJ started in 2009 and its scale is expanding year by year. In 2012, more than 47 people gathered at 595 venues in 1 countries and regions around the world to develop 2,209 works, and it was certified as the Guinness World Records as the world's largest game development event.Last year, in 2015, 78 venues were set up in 518 countries and regions around the world, and about 3 people participated in the development of 5,438 works.

 At the university, as part of practical game development education, Associate Professor Koji Mikami and students of the same department have taken the lead in participating in event management since 2010, such as the production and distribution of live programs by USTREAM.It is a valuable opportunity for students to experience the field where the game development process is condensed in a short time.
In addition to the university, 19 venues from Hokkaido to Okinawa will be held in Japan.
